AIDS - La nostra battaglia
It was the early 1980s when patients with symptoms of an unknown disease arrived in the main Italian hospitals. In the US, there are those who talk about “gay cancer”. In Italy, on the other hand, it is mainly drug users who are affected by the virus.
“AIDS – Our Battle” tells the story of the fight against HIV in Italy. The protagonists are the young doctors who are seen filling the infectious disease wards of other young people like them. The protagonist is those who, despite contracting the virus in the darkest period of the pandemic, managed, often despite everything, to survive to this day.
Luca Bedini’s documentary is the choral story of those who have all lived in the forefront of these 40 years of fighting AIDS.
The discovery of the infection, the thousands of deaths, fear and rampant social stigma to the scientific miracle of life-saving therapies: “AIDS – Our Battle” tells an epic and exciting story forgotten for too long.
