ETHBET! – Resisti!
“Ethbet”, which means “Hold on”, was the word that during the days of the Nile Revolution the Revolutionaries of Tahrir Square cried out to incite them to resist. Now that the Revolution has failed, what happened to the revolutionaries? What happens when a military regime, despite multitudes of street protests enthusiastically covered by all the world’s media, manages to strengthen rather than fall? When television stations and journalists leave, what remains of the revolution and the causes that fuelled it? Taking part in a failed revolution on the one hand means being aware that you are risking your life or maybe disappearing into one of the many ghost prisons of the dictatorship. On the other hand, it implies the awareness that the fire of the revolution has ignited within you and will not be easily extinguished. Maher, Alì, Said and Lotfy warmed up with that fire and today they are trying to reorganize the Revolution, those who are clandestine in Egypt and those who are refugees abroad.
