Acqua E Anice Copia

Acqua e Anice

Directed by Corrado Ceron | |

Olimpia is a legend of the old style “ballroom dancing” so popular in rural northern Italy. At the age of 72, she gets her orchestra’s trusty old Ducato van on the road again for a journey to pay her respects to the persons who had loved her and pass through all the many places that had made her a star.

For some time, however, the woman has forgotten things, even the most important ones, such as who she is or the way home. For this, as a driver, she hires Maria, a mousy girl, still hopelessly locked inside herself.

Olimpia is excessive, incorrect, passionate, while Maria never says what she thinks because she’s afraid that others don’t like her, she is silent, moody, the very opposite of the old singer.

The two women will get along famously until Maria understands that Olimpia is asking her to be much more than a driver. What she hasn’t told Maria is that she doesn’t plan on ever coming back.
