The mafias in the North are still too often seen as the product of an exogenous contamination, with a limited diffusivity and a completely secondary offensiveness, a phenomenon that is entirely residual, sweetened with respect to any criminal significance. The result is an underestimation of the profound essence of violence. The reaction of the community has proved too composed in admitting, at most, that it has not been able to activate the necessary tools of social defense. On the contrary, very rarely has there been an assumption of responsibility in having opened the doors of entrepreneurial activities to capital of dubious origin, rarely has it been acted under threat or coercion. No longer a “colonization” rather a “mutual symbiosis” with a mutual benefit. No longer, therefore, an octopus as much as a chameleon able to blend in with the territory, assuming its appearance, without however changing its identity.
