For many transgender people, the non-recognition of their identity is a second death, that of their memory. Families are often ashamed, and thus funerals and burial ceremonies take place in secrecy with a few close friends and family, and Gianna is turned into Gianni, Luciana into Luciano, Francisca into Francisco, and so on. This way, no one will be able to recognise them any longer. Their “deadnames” are carved on their tombstones, an identity which did not correspond with the one they chose during their life on earth.

This is what happened to Antonia, buried with her birth name of Giampaolo, with broad indifference. Twenty years later, the discovery of a letter leads her best friends, Porpora and Nicole, to organise a meeting of the Memorabile Famiglia Reale, a group of charismatic figures from the boundless trans constellation, to spend an entire weekend together once again in their historic apartment, like the fabulous weekends of many years earlier Although they initially keep it hidden, the real purpose of the meeting is to organise a seance which will allow Antonia to temporarily return to the mortal world. Only thus will it be possible to give her a fitting burial: a joyous funeral, with songs instead of tears and dances instead of prayers, and where Antonia will finally be able to wear her green dress again. A party which will also serve as redress for her and for all those of whom only a vague memory remains: lost, pulverised into the bare ground, beneath gravestones which belong to no one.
