Pietro Dioni

In 2011 I moved back to Italy from Los Angeles. I took 2 sabbatical years taking care of my family. From 2013 to 2015 I worked in the digital fabrication and in the Open Innovation sectors. In 2017 I started back in the film business and at the moment I am in post-production of “D(io) – the adventure of a brave dreamer”.

I started Film Cartel Entertainment in 2006 in Los Angeles, California. Working on Indie pictures and in the web content production. Previously I have worked as consultant on a feasibility study for launching Current TV in Italy. Prior to my move to Los Angeles, I served Blue Star Movies Group (BSM) in London as Managing Director and CEO. I structured international tax incentive and co-production deals for BSM and played a fundamental role in setting up their two new Private Equity Funds for American and European investors. Prior, I was managing BSM’s International Sales Department, selling their feature films on all major International Films Markets (AFM, Cannes, Milan, Berlin), developing a strong relationship with the all Major International Sales Companies (i.e. Content Film International, Pathé, TF1) and Local Distributors. My passion for the Asian film industry brought to BSM strong connections to Asia’s most prolific Producers (China: Lion Rock Productions of Terence Chang and John Woo), Talents (Asia: CAA’s Peter Loehr) and distributors (Japan: Toshiba), securing an important position in the fast growing Asian entertainment market.
At BSM I worked with several lending institutions such as Royal Bank of Scotland, Barclays, AIB, HK Standard Charter, structuring the finance of Blue Star Movie’s motion pictures. I have important ties with Completion Bond companies like IFG and CineFinance, as well as Collection Agents such as Fintage and Freeway. Prior to establishing BSM, I worked in London as an independent producer on numerous short films, feature films and commercials, and worked for the BBC and Channel Four.

I was born in Italy. I attended school of Economics in several universities in Germany (Passau and Nüremberg) and in Italy (Parma) with Majors in Marketing, Law and Logistics. Prior I trained as an Accountant specializing in Foreign Trade and languages (English, German, French and Spanish). Later I specialized in Financing, Marketing, Distribution and Music Rights Management.
